You can trust a leader who has been in your shoes. For 30 years, I've led some of the nation’s most respected health systems as CIO:
- Steward Healthcare
- Seattle Children's
- Scripps Health (San Diego)
- USAF Health System
Strategy, planning, governance, coaching, budgeting, project leadership, interim CIO support services and more. I've held senior executive positions in almost every kind of healthcare system: For-Profit, Venture-Capital-Backed, Not-For-Profit, Specialty Health System, Top National Institutes of Health Research Institutes, Multi-Hospital Integrated Delivery Networks, Accountable Care Organizations, & Federal and Military Healthcare. Whatever the crazy challenge you're facing, I’ve probably seen it, and solved it, over the past 30 years. Healthcare information technology consulting -- Let me help!
Figuring out the best way to go to market is tough, especially in this radically changing healthcare environment. You have a great product or service and a strong sales team. I have the insight of an executive who’s succeeded in all types of healthcare organizations. I've been a buyer. I understand how healthcare systems approach acquisitions and vendor partnerships. Let me help figure out the new ways to connect with your target customers. My client portfolio includes major software vendors, healthcare operations consulting firms, cybersecurity service providers...let's add you to the list!
I’ve been lucky to be involved with several great venture capital & private equity firms, and start-ups over the course of my career. Whether you’re seeking a portfolio review, have questions about a specific move you’re considering, or just want an experienced mentor who can help you better understand this crazy healthcare technology market, I can help. And, of course, with complete discretion (I can keep a secret -- I carried a USAF Top-Secret security clearance for 20-years).
I’m a past-Board Director at Healthcare Security Consulting firm, CynergisTek (NYSE: CTEK), and I've served with other West-Coast start-ups. I’ve did a tour as Board of Trustees Chair at the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), sat on the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) National Board, took a turn as a board-leader at HIMSS Virginia, and I was President of HIMSS Washington. I’ve also participated in a large number of advisory boards (Citrix, Dell, Microsoft, Arcadia, Ordr and more).
Most fun ever! I get a kick out of interacting with you and your team in advance of presentations, customizing my comments to fit your event. The best part is spending time with the audience after the presentation, digging in on some of the most interesting aspects of the transition to value-based care, innovation, security, and a number of other topics. A top-rated speaker at every event. I'm just a regular person who's caught a lot of great breaks, and that comes through in my presentation style. If you want a stuffy, know-it-all, I'm NOT your guy!
One of the most fun things I've done are my personal "city-tours" -- regularly hitting major cities across the country to meet with HIT leaders, trade war stories, and help however I could. I hope to restart those in 2021. I'm also lucky enough to regularly pop into webcasts and podcasts as a guest. Right now, my favorite is "This Week in Health IT" with Bill Russell.
